Meet Paul Bassett

A leading thinker on software reuse, author, and Netron co-founder 

Netron co-founder Paul Bassett is an internationally recognized authority on software engineering and author of "Framing Software Reuse: Lessons from the Real World" which blends theory with insightful case studies. A leading thinker on software reuse today and a sought-after speaker, he is currently co-authoring IEEE's forthcoming Standard P1517: Software Reuse Lifecycle Processes.

Paul is best known as the inventor of frame technology, a reuse-based approach to developing software which earned him the Information Technology Award from CIPS in 1989.  In An Interview with Paul Bassett, he speaks about his book, the state of software reuse today, and what he's learned about frame technology since he invented it over 20 years ago. 

With more than 30 years of expertise, Paul has applied his tools and techniques in a variety of business settings around the world and has helped senior managers transform their IT organizations into highly productive teams that build adaptable, flexible systems.

The author of numerous articles, Paul's 1987 IEEE paper, 'Frame-based Software Engineering', was republished in DeMarco and Listers' "Software State-of-the-Art" as one of the 27 most significant papers of the 1980s. 

Prior to co-founding Netron, he served as assistant professor of computer science at York University and was a pioneer in real-time patient monitoring at Toronto's renowned Hospital for Sick Children.
